I know that but with people using the water everyday it will never get a chance to get this hot.Also along with the relief valve they have a thermostat wich will shut the system off if it reaches a defalt temp

thats true but sometimes people/contractors are complete idiots when they hook them up…this will mainly happen if the T&P valve is plugged up, but it will also happen if the T&P valve’s discharge tube, is going up a hill, meaning a 90 degree angle,….water can actually pool up in there and cause the valve to corrode which can prevent it from working at all!
