I don’t know for sure. But an electric will not work as well as a tank-less system. The electric will not heat up as quickly

You don’t use hot water 24 hours a day. But, you’re paying to heat water 24 hours a day. With a standard water heater, you heat and reheat the same water…even when you’re sleeping.
The Rinnai tankless water heater is a more efficient way to heat water. The Rinnai is a tankless water heater that heats water quickly and delivers an endless supply of hot water for as long as you need it. With the Rinnai tankless water heater, you only pay to heat water when you need it and for as long as you want it.

The Rinnai tankless water heater comes in three sizes with retail prices ranging from approximately $600, $900 to $1,300 plus accessories and installation.

Rinnai installation costs vary and it typically takes between four to eight hours of installation time to properly fit the unit and ensure correct operation. Consult your local Rinnai installer to determine which sized Rinnai is right for you and obtain an installation estimate. Find the local installer nearest you by clicking here.

My in-laws are switching to this system this summer. They are actually going to run gas lines to their home in order to do this. Of course they are also installing a central air system!

I lived overseas in Japan and had a similar system in our home. It is fantastic and really heats the water quickly. I can’t imagine what our gas bill would have been for a regular water heater like in the US. Our gas bills were about $80 a month just for the tankless water heater that was used in the kitchen, the stove, and the heater for the bath tub! I would think that an electric unit would heat much more slowly, if they are even manufactured.

I imagine they do, Bosch does. eventhough the electric is not as efficient as the gas tankless is still way more efficient than standard tank water heaters.

There are many “tank less” units available on the market today. They include both gas and electric units. They are very energy wise and can show the homeowner considerable savings on fuel bills. You must be sure that you get a unit that is big enough for your needs. Call you local plumbing professional and see what they have to offer.

I have a Seisco electric tankless. I would never go back to a conventional water heater. Go to seisco.com and check out their models.

I don’T know whether you have heard of sun screens. Installed on terraces they ensure hot water supply 24 hours a day. Sunlight is available almost throughout the year except cloudy days. Electric water heaters without tanks are also available .They heat up wather as it flows from the pipe. Even if rather slow ino operation with a little headstart they are adequate for daily use.Gas heaters of similar tanklelss types are also in operation and are quite useful.
