You have one mains water pipe to your house then it gets diverted one pipe will go to the hot water tank then come out to each tap and one diverted to all cold taps but not through the hot water tank

There is a single water pipe coming into the house. But not all of the water goes to the hot water heater.
The water comes into the house and is then split so that some water goes to the hot water heater and the rest goes into the cold water lines that are run to every faucet in the house. There are also hot water lines that are run to every faucet in the house from the hot water heater.

Comes into the house in 1 pipe. Might go to a supply tank then spliting –one to hot water tank and one supplying the house with cold water. NO–all water does NOT go through the hot water tank. Supply tank??? maybe.

You’re almost right. The water does come in through one pipe that usually goes first toward or past the water heater. A plumber will usually place a Tee in the line that will go to the water heater inlet. Beyond the tee the cold water will be branched off to the other fixtures and a separate hot line will be run from the water heater, usually alongside the cold, that feeds each fixture with hot.
