120 degrees is the standard. if it’s set at 120 degrees, that is all you get.

Check the temperature. If it’s set at 120, maybe it needs to be recalibrated.

If you are the only one showering in past hour, then something is wrong with heater. It should produce more hot water than that. Are you using water saver in shower head?

I saw a show called This Old House. A home owner had the same problem. They told the owner that his tank needed to be replaced by a larger, more efficient tank.
Some builders buy tanks in bulk. They try to get the most for thier money by buying cheap tanks with plastic parts. After using them for about five or six years, the parts start to wear. Not only do they buy cheap tanks, they’ll buy small ones that hold less than 10 gallons of water. The problem with small tanks is that they aren’t efficient on electriciy or storing hot water.
If you need to replace your tank make sure you get one with all metal parts. It’s more expensive but you will save money in long run.

If there is any way you can drain and flush the water heater you might try that first. Sometimes they get so full of calcium deposits that your really only heating 1/2 of the heaters full capacity.Unfortunately, if you like to take really HOT showers the only thing you can do is turn up the temp so you use less hot water and more cold at the time. I do agree that this may not be an option with small children. If draining/flushing seems to help then you know hard water or calcium deposits is your problem..good luck..

Do ya have well water, Or hard water, Lots of iron. Can plugged up the coil. Or the diptube can be broken and letting cold water mix with the hot water. The temp sensor can be turned down to low, or not working correct. MOst water heaters have a 5 years on repair and parts call the company.

I have heard that undersized gas supply lines can cause appliances not to work properly. Not enough volume of gas to burn.
