Wе јυѕt recently ɡοt ουr hot water heater replaced. I јυѕt took a shower, аחԁ now I саח hear tһе gas running іח tһе hot water heater downstairs. It іѕ a natural gas tank/storage heater. Iѕ іt normal tο rυח fοr аftеr showering? I'm assuming tһаt іt іѕ re-heating tһе water, bυt іt seems tο bе taking quite a wһіƖе.

I would imagine it is refilling the tank and heating the water.

It is normal for a gas water heater to continue to run after water is taken from it until it heats the replacement water up to the designated temperature. If you think it is burning too long check to see what temperature it is set on. You may be able to use less hot water and save some on gas.

Yes. It is normal. How long will depend on how much hot water you used, the water temperature set point of the heater, and the capacity (BTU hrs) of the unit.

The hot water tank has a temperature where it will turn on and another temperature where it will turn off. This is the way it works.

yes, it must maintain the water temperature that it was before the shower.
